Cross-cultural dimensions
The current exhibitions of the Cycladic Art Museum are frequently based on cooperations at international and local level. Essentially, the nucleus of the Museum’s Cycladic Art Collection is the marble figurines depicting naked human figures that fascinate the visitor with their simplicity and abstractness, elements that have inspired some of the 20th-century’s greatest artists, such as Konstantin Brancusi, Amedeo Modigliani, Alberto Giacometti, Barbara Hepworth, and Henry Moore. A lot of times, the museun promotes exhibitions that are based on the ancient frame but they are also combined with artworks of modern or contemporary art. Ceramics and sculpture are kind of arts that have inspired the artistic creation all over the world, during the centuries.
