History and teachings
In the centre of the event is the carnival parade on 20 August (celebration of the foundation of the Hungarian state), where flower compositions made from thousands of living flowers, almost 5 metres high and 12 metres long, parade through the streets of Debrecen accompanied by Hungarian and foreign dancers and traditional groups. Today, however, the Debrecen Flower Carnival has become Carnival Week, with children’s programmes, concerts and theatre performances in many parts of the city.

Artists from abroad are invited to the carnival.

Useful information:
Recommended for anybody. Unique. Preparation is not required. There are no discounts for students and youth – prices depend on the grandstands.

Location is in the centre of Debrecen, city in the North-East of Hungary, with airport, 3 hours train journey from Budapest. No information about the accessibility for disabled. Flower Carnival and most of its programmes are available for non-Hungarian speakers too. High safety standards are applied.
