History and teachings
The collection focuses on modern and contemporary art by Greek and foreign artists, including rare works by masters of the European avant-garde such as Cézanne, van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Degas, Rodin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Bonnard, Picasso, Braque, Léger, Miró, Giacometti, Balthus, as well as works by distinguished modern Greek painters including Parthenis, Bouzianis, Vasileiou, Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Tsarouchis, Moralis, Tetsis and others. This museum is the appropriate place for the visitor to see the evolution of art movements in a lot of countries simultaneously.

Cross-cultural dimensions
This combination of painters and material that has its origin here in Greece but also in the most famous capitals of Europe and includes the most well-known and significant artists of the world is a really great opportunity in order for the intercultural influence of the art to be discussed. Basil and Elise Foundation is a result of diplomatic relationships and promotion of Greece by these persons that contributed a lot in cultural level of this country.
